Logistical Project Implementation in Northern Italy – Major Order for IPS

IPS Integrated Project Services GmbH handled its latest major project in Northern Italy. The project involved the dismantling and removal of an entire power plant in the greater area of Milan.

With a total cargo volume of almost 5,500 tons, the project had a duration time of several months. Specifically, the project logistics provider was awarded with the contract of seaworthy packing, transport to the sea port of Porto Maghera, FOB handling, and sea freight to Bandar Abbas, Iran. In addition, a diversity of work machines was employed, including 160- and 80-ton mobile cranes.

Solution-oriented project planning
For those commissioned with the entire transport chain, the contract began in springtime 2016. However, this required long, detailed planning in the preliminary stage as well as a number of preliminary talks. Technicians, suppliers, and packers jointly coordinated an exact timetable to ensure a smooth process. The Duisport packing logistics managed the entire packing and marking operations.

One special challenge that IPS mastered in this major project is the loading and preparation for maritime transport of a 179-ton turbine and a generator with a weight of 230 tons. After a transportation time of 16 days each, the generator and the turbine were delivered in time and damage-free to the customer in the Port of Bandar Abbas, Iran. There, the entire on-carriage as well as the customs clearance was organized and the cargo arrived at the construction site without any problems.

Construction Site Management
The on-site project management is being personally supported by IPS employees. Here again, the solution-oriented approach of the company was apparent. Being able to track and, if necessary, to intervene directly in the management of logistical services at the site to guarantee optimal project implementation is a matter of course for IPS.
For reliable transport processes, exact planning is essential. Thanks to a global organization structure and air, land, and sea freight resources, IPS provides its customers with customized, turnkey solutions.
