Conference Recap and WCA Projects Best Partners

Dear Members,

WCA Projects held its 13th annual conference in Amsterdam from 24-26 May at the Hilton Amsterdam Hotel. Our conference dates were chosen to combine with Breakbulk Europe in Bremen so our members can combine attending both events in one trip. The venue was a good fit for the 180 attendees who had many opportunities to meet and discuss cooperation.

The conference started with a ‘Team Building Tour’ where 85 people were split into teams for a competitive game on the streets of Amsterdam. By most accounts, this format was enjoyed more than the usual bus tours done in past – and many new friends were made before the conference began. The opening cocktail was held the same evening outdoors in the garden of the Hilton Hotel in the fresh (cool) air where the top three winning teams from the tour were announced.

The opening session included a roll call of 25 new members, professional speakers from CMA-CGM and the Port of Rotterdam, followed in the afternoon by 1- on -1 meetings. The evening cocktail and awards dinner were held at the Stork Restaurant with a live band and great food. This year’s sponsors led by Diamond Sponsor Freight Connection Pakistan were thanked on stage prior to the Best Project Partner awards.

Regional best partner awards are as follows.

The Best Worldwide Projects Partner: B & M Logistica Internacional Ltda, Brazil

Congratulations to all the winners for their hard work and recognition by their professional peers! Thanks again to all the sponsors and for the great member support at the conference this year.

Photos from the conference can be found here.

We are working on next year’s location and will likely hold the 2020 WCA Projects conference after Breakbulk Europe (May 26-28) in a convenient location with approximate dates of May 30, 31, Jun 1.  We will update you all as soon as we can so you can plan early for next year.

Best regards,

Bruce Cutillo
